Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and I was hoping to get an answer to my question. I have just purchased a NP6292 from XoticPC and I am just waiting for the parts to be released before it can be built. I was wondering is anyone has a simular comfiguration as the one I have and can tell me how well Microsoft Flight Simulator X will work on it with both the FSX Sp's installed. Will I be able to max out the settings while still maintaining a high refresh rate? Will the DirectX 10 be a good improvement in the game or should I not use it? I have researched many different forums for these answers, but all the postings were old without the newer graphics cards and CPU's.
The specs for my new laptop are:

I am pretty sure your system will be able to run the game well at the highest settings. As to DX10, there is a CONSIDERABLE difference. Just google the DX9 vs DX10 for Flight Simulator and you will be amazed ;).

I have seen the screen shots on the web of a DX9 Vs. DX10 comparison, but these were done before DX10 was out and they were merely an artists rendering of what it COULD be like. The DX10 artist rendering was so lifelike, that I new it would never look that good, atleast not yet. I can't find any current screenshots of the game with DX9 and DX10 comparisons. If anyone has a link to any I would really appriciate it.

Notice a difference? Because I hardly can...

Yeah you fell for the fake DX10 shot. It's very hard to see any difference between DX9 and DX10 in existing games including FSX. DX10 does cause a performance hit in some cases though. I think there's a slight noticeable improvement in Crysis but you need more than a mobile 9800GTX to take advantage.

That 9262 should do a great job on FSX in any case and will look great. I'm not sure about the "highest" setting though. The game is extremely demanding but there's a lot of stuff out there about how to tweak it to look it's best for your hardware. Frame rates are very important in a flight sim. When you get below 30fps you will notice it and it becomes harder to fly. Ideally you want your minimum frame rates above 30.

Well I never actually played Flight Sim X, but I have played some games in DX9 vs DX10 and I can tell he difference. Really it is fairly similar, but more objects are drawn, atmospheric efects are more realistic, and depth perception is much better. I think it really depends on the game though, and how well it can use DX10 rendering.
