Hi all,

Has anyone tried to install OpenSolaris ? I am having issues with the slim_install package when I try to install the newest NVIDIA drivers and I cannot get OpenSolaris to detect the Intel Wirless 5300 stuff... Any suggestions ?

Cheers

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm willing to bet you're going to have some problems with the video drivers. I can't even boot a live CD of Ubuntu or Fedora. You may want to try getting the driver for the wireless card onto like a CD or flash drive or something and install it from there.

i successfully installed the x86 version of ubuntu (just change the bios setting from os type "vista" to "other", this might help). I will later try to install the x64 version of ubuntu.

i could install opensolaris but i had a lot of drivers issues... i am tempted to give up :(

Linux is always difficult with new hardware, especially laptops. You may want to wait until the next release, thats what I'm doing with Ubuntu.
