I have a couple of questions

1. What is the least expensive laptop offered by xoticpc that has the nvidia 9800m?

2. If I purchased a laptop with a 9600m could I at some point upgrade to a 9800m, how much would a 9800m cost?

3. If I went with a bare bones compal jhl90 could I use a processor with a higher wattage rating than 35w, 95w for example?

4. Would heat dissipation be a problem if I used a higher wattage processor.

5. Is there anywhere that I can purchase after market fans and heatsinks?

6. Are there any advantages to ordering on the phone instead of online?

7. does xotic pc offer models and options that aren't listed online?

8. which lines of processors are compatible with the compal jhl 90, can I use desktop processors, core 2 due, quad core, core 2 extreme, etc.


Wow, I didn't realize I had so many questions. I would really appreciate any feedback that can be provided I don't espect anyone to try to answer all the questions, but if you know the answer to any of them I would really appreciate it.

4. Maybe, depends what CPU and if it is OCed or not. Overall higher clock and W means more heat that is for sure.

5. Most parts sites offer notebooks coolers, I think xotic offers them as well.

3. No, the PSU on the JHL90 (2096) only is a 80-90 watt (can't remember and don't want to look)

Well there is a special deal going on right now with the 5793, you're probably gonna want to look into that.

I don't believe so, but then again I'm not sure. The 9800m series is probably twice as powerful, creates a lot more heat, draws more power, etc. That being said, check for MXM compatibility, and ask Justin.

idk about 95w... but check the threshold for the powerdraw on the motherboard of the laptop.

Depends on the wattage, processor, and laptop. Wattage might not be a problem, but heat output might be, so be sure to check that all three of these things are compatible.

5. Is there anywhere that I can purchase after market fans and heatsinks?
I'm sure there must be, though I would have no idea where. Stock heatsinks should be fine though, unless you're overclocking.

Not that I know of, aside from being able to ask questions, which, you're doing right now lol. I suppose you'd get to talk to Justin though, which... well he knows everything. Srsly...

No idea. Like I said, they're having a sale on the 5793, and I'm not absolutely sure that's listed, at least on the front page... but I may be mistaken on that one.

No idea, I'm not familiar with this laptop. Check for the motherboard type, and the socket type, and then look to see which processors are available to you using my tip from question 4.
