Ok lets get this started.....

from PONG to Warhammer, what is the best videogame of all time?

My first vote would have to go to the arcade version of Tenage Mutant Ninga Turtles. I wasted more time on that game than any other aspect of my childhood. loved every last footsoldier that I kicked into oblivion!

Well lets see, going back as far as I can remember, my favorite has always been the original Halo. It's pretty much the only game that hasn't come out in the past 2 years that I still play lol. Plus, nothing beats the trial. Bloodgulch battles, idiots who don't know how to throw a grenade and ask you, plus 50% of the people online are from another country, which is actually quite cool.

I loved the old MS-DOS games. My first computer was an old 486 Leading Edge desktop PC which cost around $3k at the time and came with Windows 3.11, it was eventually upgraded to Windows 95. I loved playing the original Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, and Pirates game. I also spent a lot of nights staying up playing the original Red Alert.

We had the original Doom on the computers in my high school lol. Somebody got the game and installed it onto the entire network, it was fairly useful during Business Tech class :)

I spent the better part of two days trying to find my old adventure games after a recent move. I loved any zork title and Douglas Adams Starship Titanic. Man I miss those games :(

Console game - ZELDA HANDS DOWN. Ocarina of time owns you.

PC - FPS: Counter-strike, When they had WON ID's (although Natural Selection was cool, it got old)
MMO: Warhammer Online. Yeah, it does own despite the issues it is facing atm.

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with the console game choice and say Star Fox 64. However, I do agree that N64 owns any other console ever made.

I quit playing counterstrike after patch 1.6 when everything switched over to Steam.

Anybody remember those great Microsoft Entertainment Pack games on Windows 95 like: Chip's Challenge, Jezzball, Fuji Golf, Etc???

OK I bit! How about Galaga? I play on MAME along with 2000 other classic games.

The only game I ever got into of the PC generation was NFS porches unleashed. That was a great game but have not played for years.

Funny I never got into the shoot them games (Doom type) But Galaga is a killing type game? I guess killing those space ships I could pretend robots were inside.

Wow! Some of you guys are really showing your age! :-)

I've never really been much into retro gaming or nostalgia. In college there was an Asteroids machine in the student union building that I owned. I'm not sure if it was because I actually liked the game, was good at it, or simply because I'd figured out a way to make it take pennies and think they were quarters! LOL

These days I'm more interested in whatever will push my system to the edge and give me a cinematic and gaming experience that simply amazes me and shows me just how far we've come.

Richthofen's Revenge, Commodore 64. The first computer and game I ever played. It's hard to narrow it down to a specific game, but nothing brings back the memories like all nighters with Wolfenstein and Doom. Looking at those now it was like playing Lego Doom, the advances of technology, gotta love them.

Are you looking for a flight simulator? Take a look at Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. Better yet if you are looking for a really good combat flight simulator take a look at the Open Falcon or BMS mods for the original Falcon 4.0. The community development program for this is what led to Allied Force and has created the most advanced flight simulator available for the PC, if you are dedicated enough to learn how to install and fly it. Real world fighter pilot experience is helpful but not necessary. ;-)

I play PC games only so I will stick with that...

ZAXXON - many, many hours spent playing this (and waiting for it to load on my Commodore!)

Shadowbane - to this date, still my favorite MMORPG. It is dated now but the PvP is the best of any game imo.

Bomberman N64, Bond N64, the original Diablo, the original everquest launch before Kunark was the most magical time I have ever had in a game. There have been alot of MMORPG's since, but none compare to the feeling I had in that game when it came out.

Ooh I forgot about Mario Kart 64, I loved that one too.

N64 did have some really good games, but it had a lot of stinkers too.

I was playing Bomberman 64 the very first time I met my to-be stepfather. I was 9 years old when he and my mom walked in my home after their first date. I was rather upset that my mom was dating again since it had only been 2 years after my father's passing, so naturally I wanted nothing to do with this guy and continued playing Bomberman. Before my mom could even introduce him to me he was already on his way over to where I was sitting on the floor playing. He proceded to sit down next to me and ask what I was playing and if he could play too. I didn't really want to play with him but I said "yes" anyway. It didn't take much time playing with him to conclude I liked him. I later discovered he was a CE/CS graduate as well as a pretty good gamer, thus why I'm such a geek now, haha! My life has never been better since he came into it.

Thanks for the memories Joseph :)

Right now my favorite game is Left 4 Dead. Think about it, its a FPS squad based games, where you kill zombies, that is set to look like a movie, that can be played multiplayer, as survivors or zombies, and u can even on the PC do custom maps! OMFG PERFECTION!

Also Id have to give a vote for World of warcraft. No game is more indepth, and more addictive. If you have played it, you understand, if you haven't, try it

+1 L4D at the moment. So much replayability and challenge it's insane. I can't wait for L4D2... and of course Modern Warfare 2!!

Sorry - I'm a little late to the party - just saw the thread.

Favorite oldie FPS: Duke Nukem 3D
Favorite modern-ish FPS: Half-life 2 engine (particularly Team Fortress 2)
Favorite console series: Lego Star Wars / Indiana Jones / Batman
Favorite console downloadable: Pixel-Junk Monsters - PS3 (VERY addictive)

Ultima IV on the Apple IIc. Sucked me in and I had to buy my first computer after playing it on a friends computer. Wasteland extended that need.

Zelda the original blew me away that it could save my game without a password.

Warcraft 2 using Kali on the internet before new-fangled internet games started. Kali was great!

Half-Life with Team Fortress... played that online for 3+ years.

I have to say mine are:
Wing Commander (all of them) Sure wish I could play those again, but they don't run on newer systems under XP.
Megarace - car racing and destruction with great cinematics and the most obnoxious host which actually is what made the game funner.
Sadly, this is another one that can not be played anymore

Started playing about 5 years ago.. haven't touched my console games since and though I've dabbled with others (GW, City of, War, etc) none compare - I'm still in love :)
