Hiya, I am not blaming the staff of XoticPC or anything like that, but it seems the spammers on these forums have gotten a little out of hand and the moderators can't keep up. It was one thing when they were just in the "Off Topic" forum, but now they are starting to invade the troubleshooting and such. I don't really know how to fix this problem, but it does seem to be addressed. I don't know if you could change the way you sign up, block out the words, or get a system where you need to do something to post topics. Not something I really am knowledgeable about lol. Obviously it doesn't look good for someone to see this when they are going to buy a computer, tho I know and I believe everyone knows it's not your fault. Ok, rant over lol.

Signed,
A concerned customer.

We apologize about the mass amounts of spam that occurs on the forums. The moderators are constantly deleting spam that appears. Once again we are working as fast as possible to keep the forums clean. Thank you for your input :)

No problem, I understand you can't camp them every waking moment. Just wondering if there was a way to just prevent it from the get go. Good luck with the war, lol.

Yeah Spam does get quite annoying, but thats what mods are for. I do know how spam gets quite annoying for mods. (I do mod other fourms)

The spam is getting quite ridiculous recently. I'm on here quite frequently If you need an extra Mod :P

It's been pretty bad today. The captcha you guys use doesn't look strong enough, and the spam software is apparently able to read through it. There are some stronger ones out there that can be dropped into an existing phpbb 2 install like this :)

We are looking into some additional spam software for our forums to help control the spam. If you have seen some that have been effective please forward us any links you have for phpbb.

Another forum that I am a member of restricts linking and images in a user's first post.

Also avatars & signatures should not allow links/images for first-post users.

I've noticed a significant drop in the volume of spam recently. Congrats on getting that under control :!: It was kinda crazy for a bit.

We implemented some extensive SPAM blocks and so far (*knocks on wood*) it has been keeping the spammers off the forums :)

Spam is getting a little ridiculous again , or maybe I'm just checking the forums earlier than the moderators.

There has been a very recent increase in spam on the forums. 90% of the spam is moderated and doesn't actually post to the forums, but there are a few spam posts that get through our spam blocker. Any spam that is posted outside of business hours will be deleted right away in the morning when we resume business hours.
