A lot of people I know are hesitant to switch to x64 for the sole purpose of Google Desktop. So, I decided to tell you all how to get it working on x64 systems. I have it installed under Vista Ultimate x64 working perfectly.

NOTE: Do this at your own risk. While I have experienced no problems so far, Google revoked x64 support for a reason. Therefore, my experience is not your insurance.

1. Download the Google Desktop installer.
2. Create a shortcut to the installer exe on your desktop.
3. Right click the shortcut and go to the properties menu.
4. Under the Target field, replace "blah/Desktop/Googledesktopinstaller.exe" with "blah/Desktop/Googledesktopinstaller.exe /force" (no quotes)
5. Launch the exe by clicking the shortcut.
6. Enjoy Google Desktop on your x64 system.

So far I have tried out about 15 gadgets, and all of them work perfectly, no trouble with any kind of errors, crashing, etc, but again, do this at your own risk.

I wouldn't be surprised if Google progressed towards the operating system market next :D

I would love to see this happen. I've heard rumors that they were simply going to absorb gOS, which would be a shame, since it's basically Ubuntu with added gadgets. I'd use a Google OS :)
