I'm not sure if anyone caught this but going throught the product gallery, the MSI GT627-218 is stated to have a "1,024MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9800M GS" when the ASUS G50VT-B1 says it has a "512MB DDR3 nVIDIA 9800M GS". I think it should have been "512MB" for the MSI.

I think you are wrong. I am just guessing but let the J's know? I have let them know and they correct very fast. But I think you are incorrect so let's see?

I found out, it's the ASUS that's wrong it should say 1,024MB rather than 512MB.

Somehow I don't think they're the one's that's wrong its just ASUS in whole. I just looked at Newegg and they posted the 9800m GS as 512MB. What gives?

thats really weird.... maybe the card has both a 512 mb and 1024 mb ( 2 seperate cards with diff memory?)

Doubt it, although it'd be a first, and ASUS never does cease to amaze me.

well... dosent the amount of video memory not make 2 much of a diff after a point anyway???

You definitely notice the difference when playing demanding games like gta iv, crysis warhead, etc.

Any game with really high resolution texture maps will benefit some from it.

The more the card can store on its own memory, the smoother the image on the screen. If it has to go to system memory for it, thats when you'll see things like distant textures not drawing in quick enough.

[H]ardOCP does a lot of benchmarks and tests on desktop video cards if you're looking for some serious number crunching and breakdowns. They even show where sometimes extra memory isn't helping anything as the game textures aren't all that large.

There are tons of articles there testing almost every mainstream desktop card thats come out in the past several years. Good read if you want to know where to put your money on a desktop card or just see which games demand the extra horsepower or memory to run well.

Notebook check does a really good benchmark chart on mobile CPUs and GPUs and posts reviews on nearly all laptops.

is it SLI? many companies add the 2 cards memory to come up with the total so it looks like aloy more(ALIENWARE)
