Seems we may get a peek at the new Intel X-25 Ms sooner rather than later! 320GB SSD Larger Faster... Efficient..er. Um ok but they are better :p link (http://www.channelregister.co.uk/2009/06/29/intel_doubling_ssd_capacity/)

ok...but what about the system stuttering
and performance degradation

A lot of times it's the luck of the draw with SSD drives. I have an older 60GB OCZ Core V2 booting WindowsXP on my Sager and it's very smooth and fast but the first OCZ drive I had was exchanged for severe stuttering.

The first generation of OCZ drives (and a couple other brands) used a crappy controller that created the stuttering issue. That has been fixed for all brands.

Intel used to have a performance degradation over time issue due to extreme file fragmentation in the wear leveling algorithm (often made worse by people attempting to defrag the SSD - never do that). This has been fixed via a firmware update.

I get what you mean, but it is worth noting that the 80 GB drive came out at 700 and is now down to 300. I am assuming another price drop is in order. they will become resonable soon enough.
