this is the 3rd week already for the ETA of G51VX-A1, any new news for the ETA of this laptop?

Justin@XoticPC

There are no confirmed updates. The last we heard is it could be pushed into August along with the G71. We update ETA's on the product pages as soon as we get confirmed info from the MFG.

man, I've been waiting 3 weeks with no lappy so I can get this stupid thing and now its being pushed again? Asus is very close to sending my business to Sager on a perm. basis and their unreliability with at the very least updating you guys at XOTIC is making you look bad.

to be clear, I think XOTICPC is awesome, great customer service etc. I'm just disappointed that ASUS isn't giving you guys the necessary information.

Anyway, I will be canceling this and ordering something else. My luck, the ASUS will come in stock 5 minutes after my other order processes :D

I get that its not Xotic PC's fault, but this wait is driving me crazy. I've spent the past seven months saving my money for a new laptop, and all the research I've done in this time has convinced me that the G51 is the best one for me (sorry to all you sager fans out there, but I'm just not as impressed by the 8662 compared to the g51). So I've got to say that this is extremely frustrating.

Now that I've vented, I just gotta ask you Justin if, based on your knowledge of Asus's previous shipping tendencies, what is your best guess of how long we might have to wait for this machine?

Remnant
07-22-2009, 10:45 AM
Dude- Justin doesn't know. These companies just ship whenever they want. With how he's covering his butt, I'd bet that we are looking at a minimum one month delay, so that would be laptop in hand (if overnighted) by august 25th. But I don't KNOW that.

putochip0123
07-22-2009, 10:51 AM
i knew that, this isnt xotic's fault, is asus fault, that giving the ETA without archiving the ETA. If the laptop isn't coming out, come on dont just come out with "ETA". i hate "ETA" la. haiz....... I HATE ASUS BEHAVIOUR, BUT I LIKE "ASUS G15VX-A1"
BTW Justin still doing the best to clarify and answer our question. U r the best Man "Justin"

Justin@XoticPC

I highly doubt a 1 month delay further from here. Keep in mind that on every product release we have seen from ASUS back to the first gaming notebook (ASUS G1/G2) there were delays. I know it is hard to wait as I feel all of your pain. I would feel the same way waiting for a new notebook.

We have received info that they could be in anywhere from end of next week until middle August. We speak with ASUS on a daily basis and they know our urgency on these machines.

I don't want to get everybody's hopes up and think this is a guarantee but we were told just today they may be in the end of next week. This could change as we are working off of a Estimate provided by ASUS and based on International Shipping and it clearing through customs. We will keep you all posted as we get info. Thanks for all your patience and understanding.

Justin-

Given that I've been waiting and waiting for this, and decided to upgrade to a more expensive system through you guys instead, wouldn't it be totally cool if my order was rushed ahead of the normal 3-7 days? I know I'd think it was cool. But I'd be a D-bag to ask for that, so I won't even give you my order number, which is 12262, in fear that you might tell your guys to push this one ahead.

No way, no order number to you guys. I'm not going to tell you my order number is 12262.

little bit off topic...
I wonder why justin say that laptop G51VX-A1 is being delay but not for the NP9850. He mention in nbr forum about 4 hour after his post in here that "Mid August is the ETA for Sager to have these machines in stock and shipments to start. Depending on the layout of the logo on back it may be able to be cut out. We do the same on the ASUS Gaming Series where the Gaming Lights and Gaming Logo are cut out so they can shine."

While he made the announcement, why not say it for the NP9850 also

Justin@XoticPC
07-22-2009, 09:12 PM
^This is because the 9850 has already been stated it is delayed until middle August 1-2 weeks back. We are also in a G51 thread.

So what we can take from this is depending on how fast the laptops clear customs is how fast we get our laptops? They clear fast, you could get them in by the end of the week (tomorrow lol). They clear slow, it could take until the middle of August.

Has the ETA changed at all? I only ask this because on excaliber PC, I saw that their ETA was for July 27th (the coming Monday). Of course, this might also be just a huge guess, and the ETA might be inaccurate.

Sorry to bother you guys if this is wrong.

Justin_W@XoticPC
07-24-2009, 10:31 AM
Hate to break the news to you, but Excalibur's previous ETA before this was July 17, now it's July 27th, next week it will prolly be August 7th.....It's there way of providing incorrect ETA's to customers and creating more confusion. :(

Once Asus provides a guaranteed delivery date, we will be sure to update you all with this information. Xotic PC already has priority allocation setup for this model with Asus as we're a very large Asus reseller and we do a lot of volume for Asus.

Just my opinion, but if delays are caused by serious bugs (BIOS, hardware, etc.), I'd rather wait for a machine that works instead of receiving one that doesn't and wasting hours and hours troubleshooting..

I say that partly because there were reports elsewhere on the Internet about the dumbed-down version at Best Buy having problems about the video card overheating. Maybe they hastily released that one whereas the top of the line model we buy won't have that problem.

(Pure speculation on my part. Don't accept any of it as having any authority whatsoever.)

I have heard rumors about overheating problems with the best buy version, and I hope that if its true Asus takes steps to correct it. I just hope said correction doesn't delay the ship date too much, because I want this laptop.

The GPUs in the G71s were initiating an auto-shutdown sequence at 82C ( which is a fine temp ), there has since been a BIOS update to fix said issue. Im not sure about any other issues, but I do agree with you that I would much rather wait a few weeks for a laptop that works, than get it now and have some sort of issue with it.

I'm not so sure that it's a BIOS problem anymore. There was a post in the G71 thread on the NotebookReview forum where someone who claimed to be credible said ASUS was having trouble getting their hands on the GTX260Ms (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=392055&page=36) and that THAT was the current cause of delay. According to the post (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=392055&page=35), they will be out until at least Aug 14th.

I wanna hear this answer. And I think OP might learn a few things about "advertised" in stock and delivery. I have been watching this game for a few years. Other than Xotic I think PNB are the only other ones who are truthful. I could be wrong but that is what I have observed. Go Justin's or Joe?

Just a heads up, GenTech now has videos and benchmarks posted, sounds like some people on notebookreview are also saying they were told their units could be delivered to them (consumers) by Friday (from gentech). Not sure how true all of this is but they obviously at least have one unit in order to have done the videos/benchmarks. Id say this is good news for all of us :)

cant wait to get mine :) :) :)

Justin@XoticPC

GT could have it in stock as they are located not to far from ASUS. We are located in Nebraska and the units are on the way to us from ASUS. :)

We have a demo unit also and have been testing it. If any of you have questions please ask.

The back panel is black with a blue design on the back. (It is not the White color that in my opinion didn't help the G51)

Please keep all posts in one thread as I am going to merge this thread into the other G51 Thread.

After getting my hands on the G51 I must say that it is very very impressive. The LED screen on it looks absolutely amazing and overall the build quality and look of the machine is very high end. I think all of you who have been waiting for this machine for a month will be very happy that you chose to wait.

As to powerpak's comment. I agree sometimes certain vendors will give you an "in stock" to provide buzz and some added orders. More then likely from what I know about the way this works is they wouldn't be able to ship any faster than XoticPC. As Justin said before we do a ton of business with Asus and have the priority shipment from them.

We are getting our demo all set up and ready to test. Benchmarks and pictures should be updated soon. I know when I'm waiting for a pre-order benchmarks and reviews always feed my obsession :)

I've seen a couple of different case colors depicted for this model. I'm guessing the white/silver case is the best buy version and the black case with graphic is the reseller version. Can you verify this for me?

Nevermind. I just read through a previous post.

How does the custom skin cover the LED lights on the behind LCD cover?

I personally liked the white cover on the RX05 more than this scifi design, but either way I'm not really bothered by it, at least not enough to shell out more dough for a custom skin.

The skin will be cut around the gaming lights on the side by default. If you want the skin to cover them as can specify this also. :)

Stay tuned to the reviews forums, we have a ton of benchmarks that are just wrapping up this afternoon.

Good, I am very glad to hear this. If you could, could you also post the temperatures of the system, using your software of choice, or preferably HWmonitor. Also, if possible, could you post the default clocks of GTX 260m? I would like to see if it is still downclocked. A superior cooling system as well as a non neutered GPU could possibly sell me. Possibly:laugh:

Heh, I spec'd out the G51GX-A1 exactly as the G71GX-A1 comes stock, everything identical except the screen size, and the G51 came out $1 cheaper. Yep, a dollar. That includes the 3 year warranty instead of the stock 2 or 1 year on both.

$1 more for the 17" screen instead of the 15" seems worth it to me. I'll wait for the G71.
