Yeah, I wanted to know if I could download and install a crack for a game I actually bought.
This is about Mass Effect. As some of you may know, I had an explorer.exe problem, for which I had to reformat my HDD and re-install Vista, along with all my other programs.
Stupid thing about Mass Effect is, that you can only install the game thrice...I already used up two installs and I'm getting worried. If it' not legal to do so, No worries, I won't. But if it IS possible, I'd like to be informed....
After you install thrice you have to either:
a)Call EA and go through a lot of hassle and still possibly have no solution.
b)Purchase the game again.
Which I find rather ridiculous....I've registered my CD key online at the Bioware site, too.

Without reading the long boring EULA I feel pretty safe in saying, yea, it's illegal.

Hmm...Alright, Looks like if the contingency comes up I'll contact EA for the CD-key..I've heard some people managed to get a replacement key for free. Thanks for the reply!

What! Another one? Who makes that game Mass Effect, Microsoft?
One buys the game and they only get 3 installs or limited play and then they have to re-purchase?
That's one of the two main things I can't stand about Microsoft - you get one install of the OS - something goes wrong and you have to replace your HDD then you have to also re-purchase the OS.
I wouldn't give a penny for a warehouse full of that game!
That's why I won't even try WoW = to have to pay a monthly fee to play a game you own is outrageous.
Is everything going this direction?:(

I Know! I was surprised and irritated when I about heard this, too! It's insane....
And it's not exactly Microsoft, BUT it's something similar, at least in install conditions: EA. They've done the same thing with The Sims 3, I think...
IMO If you purchase the game, you have the right to do anything with it, and install it as many times as you want, because it's OWNED by us...
I CAN call EA and request a key...I just hope they're forthcoming, though so far I've only installed twice, I just hope I don't have to do it again.

Really man, you wont be arrested for that. If you ever were to get into legal trouble, just explain to them the situation, really, youd be fine

Technically, it is illegal.
Does anyone care? A few people.
Do I say do it? Hell yes... DRM locks are bullshit... not to mention how software is already way overpriced IMO. EA is a consumer strangling, money hungry, soulless company anyway - screw em.

Yeah I bought it for $20 on steam. Haven't gotten around to beating it yet but it's a fun game regardless.

Definitely a fun game, well worth the money; and yeah,it's a hell of a long game if you want to play through it comprehensively. But Hell, It's a Bioware RPG, I wouldn't expect any less. BUT There's the DRM. Always the DRM.

Crack it and don't think twice. To hell with EA's DRM crap! You own it, you should be able to load it whenever you want. I can play it more than three times on my Xbox, shouldn't you be able to on your PC too?

I think in the Xbox no installation is required...It's just insert the disc and play. As for the PC, an installation is required, and that installation is confirmed online. Therefore, you cannot install the game without having it verified online first, I think.

What!? Argh....
But hey, DID EA remove the DRM lock? I bought my copy just about 2 months ago...I've not verified that I've got only 3 installs, I was just worried about it because I've used up two...But hey, If it IS the case, and I DO end up having only 3 installs, I'll keep your offer in mind. Thanks!
