Just saw this, pretty amazing for a notebook drive. It's called the Scorpio Blue, it's 5,200 rpm and 12.5 mm tall. Retail price is $249.99

Finally, I was waiting for larger capacity drives to show up. Now I just gotta wait for a price drop.

Here's the link (http://www.wdc.com/en/company/releases/PressRelease.asp?release=89b24f84-a046-4511-9b61-e7e8b29d6785) for the full press release on these new drives.

The drives have a larger-than-normal 12.5mm height, which means they will not fit in most notebooks, which take 9.5mm height drives.

I noticed the height issue, though, with that being said, I find it kind of odd that theyre just now release 750GB models. I mean, for example, Samsung was the first to release 500GB 2.5" HDDs last year, but they were 11.5mm. Then not too long after, Seagate and WD released 500GB 2.5" HDDs that were 9.5mm in height, which means they used a 2 platter design. As such, that means each platter was 250GB. That being said, they couldve added a 3rd platter whenever they wanted to essentially. So why wait so long, I hope they release that while people like me are enthusiastic, there are many others who remain unimpressed as they are in the same situation as last year since the height of the drive makes it unable to fit most laptops.

What they should is release a 640GB Caviar Black in a 2.5" form factor. Consumers ate those up in desktops, and since it would only require 2 platters, it would also fit 9.5mm. More space, more speed. I see no cons sans possibly running into a niche market.
