I am one of those common person who does not write a review when the product is good. So I took a resolution that I will write a short review on every product that I buy, good or bad. The reason: well People tend to write bad reviews but when they find good product they never appreciate it, and when the same person tries to find review on a product he finds only bad reviews.

So here is the deal. I am satisfied with the service of Xotic PC, even though they took a lot of time to deliver the product for which I was intially angry, but it was expected. On the other hand, it does not mean that Xotic PC will slow down their process when they can deliver it in time.

Now about the product. Asus G51j-A1. It's excellent. If you are angry about it then it can be mostly one reason only. YOu are a very picky person and a hardcore gamer who want the best, and it's better you buy a desktop. But this product lives upto the name.
1) Screen quality, it's awesome.
2) Feeling of typing and trackpad, awesome
3) The reasons for BSOD, is not completely because of build, but because of WIN 64 bit compatibility issues and i7 core compatibility
4) Bulky - it's expected man!!! it's a gaming laptop + 2 HDD, although the weight could have been reduced .. but I am happy.
5) Heating: I know it's hot, but the back panel still feels cold enough to hold and the build of the laptop is good and I have 3 yeas of warranty which should cover any problems, if they do occur.
6) Battery: obviously it's going to be low, but I can get 1:25 min for word processing and other basic stuff for which I require it to be disconnected out of the socket. Worst case I will buy another battery. Honestly speaking I have not had good experiences when it comes to battery life on a 15.4 " laptops.. HP, DELL,!!

The only thing I am a bit disappointed is sound. It's good for me for the games, because of the way the games are designed. But when it comes to videos , I definitely need a good headset or complete silence.

Overall, it's been 3 weeks and I am happy that I can now play games like Crysis, Left 4 dead, gta4, etc which initially I was not able to play since I did not want to buy a desktop due to some reasons and I did not want to spend 3000$ on a gaming laptop. But this deal is awesome for the price. If I can get through 3 years on this laptop , I would be satisfied with the deal and more is bonus. Of course I need to maintain the laptop for that. ANd please don't expect me to benchmark systems, I don't have time for that, writing this much only is taking a toll on me :) I am writing it from a common man's perspective. If any big problem comes up, trust me, I am going to spread it like a virus.

I encourage everyone to write reviews on product if you like it or not and don't just ignore it, this will help only you in the end. Spread the word!!!

Nice perspective. I bet you could improve battery life if you wanted to and felt like trying?

I know you said not into benchmarks but consider some free apps to monitor temps? Just to stay on top of and know if anything you should consider.

HWMonitor is good as it gives current/lowest/highest temps of CPU/GPU/HDD. That is good because you can game and when you stop see top temp? Core Temp and Notebook Hardware Control are nice for temps in system tray. All free.

yup, I am using HWmonitor to monitor my temps while I am using it. In short, if I use a cooler (Cooler master infinity) before I start running heavy games or applications, the cooler maintains the temp well and the GPU goes to max 86 C while gaming. As far as battery life is considered, I normally turn off Aero, and reduce brightness to 30% instead of default 60. That gives me a boost of around 10 mins
