I was curious if it would be possible to add an x-fi express card to my NP5792 and where exactly it would be located (any links to pictures of laptops using it?). Also, could I expect voulme boosts or just better quality?

The Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi 7.1 Xtreme Audio Notebook Express Card is an external sound card that plugs into your express card slot and it is only beneficial if hooking up external speakers or hd headphones.

Would I need the x-fi card to use 5.1 channel head phones or am I able to already?

The 5793 has a Built-in Intel® High Definition 5.1CH Sound System so it should support your 5.1 channel head phones

What would I do if the headphones required 3 plugins to use the surround sound feature? As far as I know there is only one plug in for headphones. Does anyone know any good quality 5.1 channel headphones that only use one plugin or USB?

Have never used any so can't say if there are any good ones out there. Saw some on newegg though and am thinking about picking some up here in the next few weeks. If you find a good pair reply here and let me know :D

I use Sennheiser HD477 with my my X-Fi notebook card and games sound great. Just enable the X-fi CMSS-3D and makes your headphones sound like surround sound.

Well, I figured I would revive this thread as I have finally found good reason to make a purchase this weekend. The problem is I am drawn between two models and would really appreciate any opinions on the pair. Here are my two choices, and I can get both for the same price.

I will be using them mainly for gaming and at the moment specifically Quake Wars. I want to make sure they won't have any issues, as I have read about a few incompatibilities with each model. I like the Tritton's color and removable mic, but it apparently has some weak drivers and some Vista issues. Thanks in advance, and I will post a short review after I make a decision.

My choice would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826504004 But i have never heard of that brand before so cant really tell.

I use Steelseries 5hv2 for gaming and Sennheiser HD600 for music/movies

Love my steelseries tho' they tend to break pretty easily if ur not careful with em.
in games u know precisely where ur enemy is shooting from or where he is walking.
They are ''okay'' for music and movies but they cant touch my HD600 at that point

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826249016 The price isnt that much higher than those u looked at.

Thanks for the advice! I was most likely going to get that model based on the reviews, but it's too bad the Tritton model is so risky.... its colors match my lappy almost exactly :P.

I'm not an expert on sound and headphones but based on the reviews given i would go with the better rated eDimensional AudioFX Pro 5+1 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826504004)

MaximumPC has a review on 8 different headphones here (http://www.maximumpc.com/articles/Headphones)and also does a review on the Tritton AXPC Headset you were looking at.
