Ok guys, we've all been waiting around trying to figure out where we are in line. Well, here you go, this is the list, well, sort of...

I went through a bunch of posts and looked at people's signatures as well. This certainly isn't all encompassing but it should give you an idea of where you stand in line with regards to the rest of us poor slobs. Nice work, UMI. No, "sigh," haven't received The Unit, or "The Email," or "The Phonecall" either. Checking email pretty much every couple of hours now, and the phone is ALWAYS at hand. I'll post IMMEDIATELY when I get the word!

I checked "out there" for other dealers that have The Unit "in stock;" if they did, they sure don't now. I checked probably two dozen, and without fail they list The Unit as "pre-order," or "No Longer Available." Exactly. The guy he was talking to had the 920XM,12gb 1333 RAM, and Intel 160gb G2 XM-25...so the Sager would've been cheaper if you put those in it.

Thank you for this list UMI. I like many others have just been reading the forums for the last month for any information on when I might be getting my A1. However, seeing your list inspired me to create an account so that I could contribute and help everyone figure out where they are in line for their machine as well. I think it would be absolutely wonderful if everyone would do the same, but we'll just have to wait and see if that dream can become a reality. Anyway, put me down for preordering the A1 on 2/6/10.

If you look at jamiemacca's signature, and how he configured his, you can configure the Sager to the same specs for cheaper. Minus the 12GB RAM though, but really, anything over 4 or 6gb is overkill.

Ah, though he does lose the ability to get more than 8GB of Ram with the Sager. Though at this point 8GB is even overkill for about 95% of the things you would likely do with a system.

This is basically the same reason I'm getting this. Yeah I can't afford all the upgrades, but it's still a nice machine for starts...doing visual effects and all. Sorry UMI, back on track!

Ummm the Sager has a front intake vent too, although it also has intakes on the bottom, so it probably doesn't function exactly the same as the Asus. I don't think that the Sager is going to get any hotter than the Asus really while doing rendering. I don't know exactly what the finish on the Sager is, but from the photos is looks like a matte finish on the plastic. You're right about the speakers, but all laptop speakers are, relatively speaking, crap and a good headset or external speakers are probably a better choice no matter what lol.

I'll let you know how noisy the Sagers' are in a few days.

I like this idea of a softmod and will have to investigate it further!

I've been muddling along on my Athlon 64 X2 4200+ running dual 7800 GT w/SLI. It wasn't a bad rig at the time, but nowadays I can barely run MW2 at 800x600, and it still lags. (I've not even attempted BFBC2 ... I don't think I meet minimum CPU requirements.) But I've put up with it this long, I can survive a little longer.

If the order number is exclusive to G73 orders, well I'm sure you can figure about how many people might be in front of you. If it isn't (which Im going with) well there really isn't anyway to tell at this point except to say that if Xotic got a fair number of units in then things could be looking up for those who ordered a bit later. I'm curious, I had ordered the A2 customized originally, then cancelled and "replaced" order with A1, then went back to stock A2....don't ask why lol....but everytime Justin wrote on there that it "replaced previous orders". So did I lose my place in line or not? And I'm sure the order numbers are not exclusive to the G73. Don't forget, a lot of people have probably cancelled due to the annoyance of the wait time.

I would guess that the A1 will probably comprise only 30% of the orders with the A2 being the remainder because of the cost difference. So if that is the case the A1 orders might get filled sooner.

I would've gotten the A1, but my money is limited and I read up on them and found that people are having problems with the graphics drivers. Either you get blu-ray with bad gaming graphics or vice versa. Since I have a PS3, I figured the blu-ray player wasn't absolutely necessary and a LOT of BDVDs are now coming with data copies.

Ok if that is the case, I am going to have to change my order. With that logic, my order will come in (Being number 17604, 1/3 being 5868) in... 58 months. almost 5 years. I sign up with the Marine Corps in May, and ship to boot camp 3 months at the most after that, and I need the laptop for school.

you can't take 1/3rd of 17604, because that number is the total number of invoices that xotic has used. You would have to take your order # and subtract the order number of the latest person on the list to get their G73. That would give you an idea (and only an idea because apparently the order number changes if you make a change to your laptop after ordering, so you may have multiple order numbers for the same PC and that reduces how many people actually have orders in) of how many total orders were made between you guys. Once you have that you can then only speculate like I did. 1700 or so orders between you with 1/3rd of those being G73's (I just made a rough guess on the actual percentage of the total orders made to Xotic are for the G73's, I could be way low or way high), assuming 100 G73's are received per month, it puts the wait time at about 5 months. If figures are even close to right that is about where you stand at this time. Now that isn't to say that they have only gotten like 300 orders for G73's and they get more than 100 per month in, but its safer to bet longer than pray you get yours sooner right? The only people that truly know these numbers is Xotic and unfortunately if they release that number and tell people they get X amount per month and then one month they don't get that number then people are upset with them when they really have no control of how many they get.

it may not, but it's a pretty safe bet that there are some people that ordered within the last 24 hours that have the potential of not seeing a laptop until May or at least late April at this point; so I don't think my musings are that far off.

I don't think so, i have changed my order a few times (removed the cooler since its kinda useless on this laptop, and removed the thermal compound since it is unavailable and just today i sent a message saying i wanted to remove the INTEL wireless card since they no longer offer they one i wanted and it will just delay me getting it). i just sent them a message and they added notes on my order page. Maybe if you cancel your order and then re-order it then i would probably think your order number would change.

Yep, but not for the price we're getting this at. If you find me a new laptop with better specs stock than this one at the same price or cheaper, I'm all in :wink2: At any rate, technology is advancing so fast that these things stay current for like a month anyway, then we're outdated! It's impossible to keep up!

And that's my point! Based on most other peoples wait times, I've already seen an average wait time of around 2 months. That 's a LONG time in terms of "technology advances"! A good deal 'on paper' TODAY...but in 2 months? Not so sure!?!?

But remember, you can always upgrade parts. The RAM is upgradeable to 16gb :biggrin:, CPUs and GPUs are upgradeable, too. As for everything else there's not much upgrading needed. You can always change the HDDs to SSDs.

That's some DAMN GOOD news for me since I ordered before you! You do realize that with all of the customizations, you won't actually get it as soon as the stock orders, right? I ordered my SSD elsewhere. That way I convert one 500GB HDD to an external, pay less than the upgrade and wait less!

I didn't get blu-ray for two reasons: 1. I have a PS3 so there's my BR player, so I decided to save myself about $100. 2. I read that the ATI drivers cause problems so you have to decide between BR or better game graphics. Do a google search or look on the NBR forums, that's where I found it.

Customers that will be receiving a model from this March 4th shipment will be contacted the later part of this week (10th -12th) or the first part of the following week (15th - 17th) to confirm their configuration and any additional upgrades that they’d like made to their order. If you don't receive an order status update, then unfortunately that means we don't have a model for your order yet. :(
