So when do you think these will make it the laptops offered here.. and then which to go with ATI --Nvidia?

"But the speed benefits are accompanied by high levels of heat generated by the card, which can make systems very noisy, Reeves said. As more heat is generated, the card's cooling fans need to ratchet up, which generates more noise, Reeves said."
going to be a while before we see these chips moved to a mobile platform where heat is a killer if that statement is true.
"Nevertheless, AMD holds onto the single-card performance crown with Radeon HD 5970. On the other hand, Nvidia's position stands to improve moving forward, as its emphasis on DirectX 11 affects a growing number of titles." (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-480,2585-16.html)
if this is true then I will stick with ATi card upgrades on this here sager as they come and as I can since it runs a single card setup. Granted the mobile models aren't their full blown desktop counter parts, but Nvidia has a bad habit of turning clock rates up and rebadging a card as the next higher series in their mobile cards. So if that trend holds true the mobile GTX470M is just going to be a rebadged and overclocked GTX285M.
also from that link "the GTX 480, in particular, becomes a very hot card, cresting 160 degrees Fahrenheit on its surface during game play." once again highlighting the massive heat generated by the Nvidia card. (160 F = 71.1C)

You need to be really careful when talking about Nvidia video cards. It is my understanding we don't even have a Laptop card based off of the architecure of the GF200 that is used in their current/soon to be older gen g2xx series cards. I would bet it will be years or a major rework of there current setup to get it to go into a laptop.
Basically what i am trying to say is this. The current Geforce G28xM mobile chip is actually using the same architecure of the the Gefore 8xxx series. As soon as Nvidia started doing that i lost all respect for the company. They haven't really release a completely new mobile chip for a few years now.. they have basically just rehashes of the same chip with slightly diffrent specs.
*****Thought I should clarify, and correct myself. This is the first sentence from notebookcheck.coms review of the card. I wasn't completely accurate but it reaffirms my point.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M is the high-end graphic card of the 200M series and based on the G92b core (Desktop GeForce 9800 GTX+). Therefore it can't be compared with the Desktop 285M.

Maverick494 is right though, when it comes to laptop video cards it is all about thermal the thermals. A laptop is a harsh enviroment for a laptop. So either the temps have to stay low or you have to have awesome cooling
