Sounds like two of the slots are easy to get to while the other two are a pain in the ass.

I think I read that somewhere. How big of a pain in the ass? I mean would it be easy for someone who has little to no experience in changing ram?

Unfortunately the fine details I'm not to clear on. Sounds like parts have to be moved though in order to access them which is why the charge is greater for the G73 on RAM upgrades.

somewhere, there is an dis assembly guide..
but if i remember correctly, the first two are easy, the third one is tricky and the forth requires removing the keyboard and just to get to it. so yeah a pain in the ass, and probably not a task for someone with little or no experience. I have experience with taking computers apart, and it would be a task i would not want.

Bling has a great point! What upgrade path are you looking at? As that matters if it even makes economic sense. 16GB on your own is the only one that does. As said some are hard. I only from memory think slot 4 (3 if you are a computer geek (1=0)) is a MF'r. If you feel comfortable basically completely disassembling a notebook. No problem, if not you might want to reconsider.
Because this has 4 slots you can get 12GB's symmetric (true) dual channel with out having to mess with the dreaded 4th (3rd for the geeks) slot. You pair your channels up with a 4GB and 2GB in each.
That is cool if what you are looking for does no good if you also want to increase speed as all sticks will run at the lowest speed.
So what upgrade are you looking at?

Three of the sticks are very easy to get to (just take off the bottom panel that covers the HDD slots) but the fourth is under the keyboard and takes a bit more disassembling to get to.
Thanks for the input guys. For the guy who asked if 8gigs isn't enough my answer would be as of right now it is. However, you never know what the future holds. I remember buying a notebook 2 years ago and being told that 4 gigs should be enough for years to come. I found out after a year that I had to upgrade that machine. I'm not thinking of upgrading immediately, but again you never know what the future holds. I can't afford to buy laptops every two years, although I wish I could.

Hi,
Im considering getting the upgraded ram from
8,192MB (8GB) DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (4x2GB) - Standard
to
8,192MB (8GB) DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2x4GB) to upgrade in the future.
Does Xotic put it behind the keyboard leaving the easy to upgrade slots free for future upgrade or would they be lazy and put it in these slots?
thanks.

As the 4x2gig sticks are standard, they would have to remove the one behind the keyboard for the 2x4gig configuration. Otherwise you are going to get 10gig memory instead of 8.
