supposedly you can go get the latest realtek drivers (http://www.realtek.com/downloads/) from the realtek website and install over the creative ones and it will fix the lockups and still retain the full functionality of the sub-woofer.

you have to run the setup twice in succession apparently for the realtek drivers.

I think that this Asus G73 really sucks.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From random lockups that take 20 minutes of rebooting to get rid of to crackling sounds out of my speakers to not being able to use creative drivers--I have a creative external soundcard and Creative Fatality headset, that wont work without those drivers.
There are no solutions posted anywhere and the solutions have proven to be innacurate, not to mention the fact that ASUS has ZERO cusomter service on dealing with this issue.
I cant upgrade to the latest Catalyst 10.5 drivers and am running the standard. I had to do a system recovery today. WTF............
I play world of warcraft and this PIECE OF S$*% locks up nonstop, crashing, BSOD, you name it. WHat a hunk of junk.
Damn I wish there was a solution somewhere? 1800 bucks down the fargin drain, I should of bought a M17

or a sager.
Sorry to hear that you are having the same issues as many of the other G73 users, hopefully someday ASUS will get them ironed out.

have you removed your creative drivers?
Did you update the most recent catalyst drivers?
What you have you done or not done to make everything work great??
I'm getting a BSOD when I play Mass effect (Steam). I did a fresh install of Win 7. I have Catalyst 10.5 and the latest Realtek drivers. I still get a BSOD 3-5 minutes into the game. Any idea what I can do? is the BSOD a hardware problem?

I'll say one thing for sure, I am glad that I don't use Steam!
As for the BSODs, have you tried rolling back to 10.4 and removing the Creative drivers(if installed)?

get rid of the creative drivers.
I don't have any Creative drivers installed. I can't even roll back my Catalyst drivers. I used driver sweeper and removed all traces of previous versions before I installed Catalyst 10.5 drivers. I would like to try installing 10.4 but I can't find it on the official driver site.

It looks like they pulled it from their download site when they released 10.5 I have the 10.4 version on my G73 but would have to upload the file somewhere tonight if you can't find it elsewhere. I did a quick Google search and found this link (http://download.chip.eu/en/ATI-Catalyst-Mobility_128581.html) but I can't tell you for sure if this is a legit download. If it does work, download it first, wipe all ATI drivers/programs and then install it and see how that works.

I have the most recent BIOS applied and I am using the ATI drivers from ASUS, not ATI.
I had a couple issues with the ATI drivers off and on and realized that I was actually more stable with the ones ASUS shipped so I have been using those.
I have the latest realtek drivers on as well.
The Realtek drivers from Asus?
