Thanks! Trust me its fast! You wont be disappointed with your force lappy. :) I ran bioshock on high settings 1280 resolution with no slow down. It ran smoothly while I had 5 windows open!! My older computer couldn't do that! Now to try crysis

Update: I can run crysis smoothly with most settings on high! only 2 on medium! Awesome!:D

Didn't think the GeForce 8600M GT was that strong, very nice.

Congrats on your laptop arriving.

I didn't know either! lol i guess its because of the T9300? And I don't know about a review, Ive never written one of those. :p I just wish the intel 4965 would perform better :(:-/:D Maybe its my router??

I wouldn't think the processor would help touch up the graphics, but maybe the FPS, still nice.

Oh, oh, oh take pictures. Theres something about Computers in their newly unpackaged form that gets me going, ;P

Your wireless card isn't meeting your demands? What kind of router do you have?
[EDIT: Oh, drivers, kay!]

P.S. Got inspired by your happy delivery, decided to order my Sagar today (eCheck...)

Wow! We will see what my Force does, after all, your running a faster Proc and 4GB of RAM. I don't know, I have this feeling that even though I had a slower chip put in my Force (T8100) and 2GB of RAM it still sounds like it will outperform my freshly rebuilt desktop at least 3 times over!!

I also noticed your running Vista - that is amazing results! Vista scares me so I'm sticking with XP.

I can always upgrade the memory pretty cheaply, that's no problem. However, Vista still has too many problems with drivers and none of my programs are compatible anyway including MS Word and Excel XP. I better not touch Vista unless I have a testing machine. I don't want to ruin my first and only lappy.

I don't think I want to attempt dual-booting, thats a slippery slope to HD destruction in my mind. Its better to keep things clean and simple in my humble opinion. I'm going to be using my lappy for video and photography and broadcast. I'm also using it for "business" type stuff so I need to not experiment too harshly with it. If I ever get another system I can mess about with the second system. (Although I really don't see me ever having money for that. It was all I could do just to get my Force3298v2).

Yes, there is MS Office for Vista and I have actually tested it a bit at my job along with two other people. It really stinks! So my office is sticking with XP.

Pictures!!!! :) Goodness that is one good looking lappy Halestorm!!!!! Love the blue operating lights as well. I think mine will have blue lights as well. That would be great, I love blue lights, of couirse then again I'm a bit of a freak. (In as good way of course).

Sounds lovely. lol! I will see those because my Force is built on the same machine. Ah, so those pics you posted were kind of a sneak peak! LOL!! I bet its really something in person!

Wish I could have configured a higher Proc. I just went with the T8100 due to budget constraints. I probably would not have noticed any difference anyway.

Lol you are right jesung they are media function buttons :p The T8100 proc is good enough dont worry ;) I only picked the t9300 because it could handle my multitasking needs and games:cool:

Mmm, pictures :)

As for MS Office for Vista, are you referring to Office 2007.. ? Because that can fit on XP just fine. In fact, on my second desktop at home I have Office '07 on it and it runs... Well... Let's just say I use OpenOffice instead of it, it also surprisingly eats RAM like crazy.

Oh, and dual-booting is easy as pie if you know what your doing. Just partition your Hard drive (Even better if you have two HD's without a Raid stripe) and install the selected OS on one the empty partition. I've never heard of any "risks" taken while dual-booting... Maybe a couple with Windows on a MacBook, but that's it, though I could be wrong

Hmm, I'm not sure if it was Office 2007, it may have been now that I think of it. It's awful, all the normal everyday functions are hidden and it doesn't let you bring them forward. Everything is in the wrong place not to mention mis-labled! I don't see how a software company can put out such a product. Oh yeah, its MS that's how. I use OfficeXP myself. There is nothing wrong with the previous Office versions...well, nothing real noticable anyway. I've tried Open Office and I could not get it to work right myself.

I know my way around computers fairly well and I used to partion my drives all the time, but that got to be useless with XP. It doesn't offer any protection either. These days an external HD is my preffered device as it offers protection in case of another disaster like the one I went through before.
I just want my lappy to work flawlessly. I don't want to spend the rest of my life fighting with it just to get it to boot up because I started experimenting and making a mess.
My general rule for my lappy will be "look but don't touch". Of course I'll be using it, but you know what I mean. Save the harsh experimenting for the desktop.

I may try dual-booting if I had two drives, that sounds safer. I just don't want to turn my lappy into a paper-weight with harsh experimenting on it. I have no problem doing light experimenting because you can always find the exit. I can build and replace parts in desktops, but not laptops.
Ultimately what I would like to do is maybe have 3 drives. The main with XP the second with Vista and the third with Linux so that I can familarize myself with the other two while still having a fully functional system. Although Vista might be a waste of time for me because it won't run any of my programs and I'm not about to try to re-purchase thousands of dollars of duplicate vista versions for programs I already have.
I wonder, can one set up a dual boot system using an external HD? Hmm, since you leave the jumper set to Master on an external HD I would think all I have to do is set up the Bios, but that could be a problem because I would have to change it each time I wanted to boot with the other drive. I wonder if there is a boot menu program for that?

Hmm, well, I will be playing games like MoH, CoD, Riven and such and hopefully not on the lowest settings. I would think the T8100 proc would do well also? I won't be playing a game and working on-line while doing a spreadsheet though. So I'm not concerned about multi-tasking. :)

Do hard drives affect gaming performance? I mean when the game is running, not loading.

They can, yes. When a game is running there is a lot of file transfering going on and the more efficient the hard drive is at that the smoother and faster things like missions and cut scenes and such load as well. That's why a 7200rpm drive is NOT ALWAYS better than a 5400rpm drive. It depends in the construction of the drive. Example: a 320GB 5400rpm drive is actually faster and more efficient than a 250GB 7200rpm drive. It also doesn't get as hot which saves your battery as well.

I'm wondering if it'll affect fps in particular. Waiting time for me is not worth the $$ personally. I wouldn't mind dishing out an extra $60 for the 320 GB drive but I already have a 500 GB external so I'd like to save wherever I can.
Yes, I'm aware that the 320 GB drive is better. That's why I'm sticking with 5400 rpm, regardless of size.

I don't know about that. When I shop for hard drives I look for read and write speeds. Man I wish I had a 320 gb hdd like anewbus  I might buy one to replace my 160 gb if I plan to dual boot.
