View Full Version : Upgrade due to 9800mgt's delaying orders

Looking around at the different forums, August is the month all the new goodies are coming out...
The 9800mGTX, the new Q9650....
My question is this.
When I built the specs for my computer I was under the impression it was going to ship in 3-7 days. (At the time the latest and greatest)
Now, knowing that all the new stuff is coming out will we have the opportunity to upgrade to the latest and greatest before our order ships?

Please also update on the possibility of the 9800mGTX in SLI by the time the Clevo/Sager/NVidia thing clears up...

BTW: I also noticed the option for the 128G SSD in gone....I had ordered 3 of these in RAID 0 - What's up?

Wow, three of them?

I would to ask the same question, instead of answer it. Though the 9800 series cards for the NP9262 have been delayed until mid-August, I am expecting the 9800M GTX to come later (Near end-August). But still, unsure.

So yeah, wondering the same thing Crow.

SLI cannot be answered by almost anyone at this point. The single GPU config on the market now is just to force the product out. Hopefully SLI is as simple as a BIOS update and not a mobo revision.

OK so now we know that the SSD's are no longer available....not even for those who ordered them.

I give up...I have gone through Dell, Alienware, and now XoticPC.
I cancelled my Alienware order because I was assured of a 3-7 day ship date from XoticPC.
One thing after another assures me I wasn't meant to get another laptop right now.
Good luck to everyone else....I'm leaving.

Goodness! The availibilty issues are from the manufactures, not XoticPC. I think you may be confused on the time frame. The turn around is not 3 to 7 days. It's arrival that is 3 to 7 business days standard ground shipping. Production is 7 to 10 business days and funds clearing can range anywhere from same day for credit card to one day for Wire to up to 2 weeks for other methods.

I guess some people are just used to being spoiled... I would have had to pay about 5k for my laptop at any other retailer, but thank god I found Xotic before I made any decisions :p.

Indeed! Makes wonder if he thinks his microwave is fast enough? He would have been happier ordering his lappy from here and just making a phone call or something to make sure he had correct info. When you have more than excellent service like you do at Xotic, I feel you actually owe it to them to get in touch and ask questions that come up and make sure you understand time frames and such. I think patience is also owed.

My lappy at any other retailer would have run me at least $1800 with inferior quality, bloatware and a stupid 1 year warranty and almost no support. There is nothing like XoticPc that I have ever found and I am so grateful I found Xotic!! Just thinking about what a waste of money it would have been even going for a $900 lappy like I was going to orignally at BestBuy makes me shiver.

Not spoiled by any means.
I was told my laptop would SHIP in 3-7 business days. SHIP.
I went through issues with each manufaturer prior to XoticPC.
I am not in any way blaming XoticPC for the Clevo/Nvidia thing.
This SSD thing just iced the cake for me.
I have run into issue after issue no matter where I go.
It's just not my time for a new laptop.

I know this is not the norm for XoticPC...No hard feelings...

Now get off my ass

Alright Crow28277, take it easy mate, you left in quite a huff so folks may have thought you were blaming Xotic in error. I'm glad you popped back in. I know you have been burned by other retailers and what have you.
I posted earlier that I think you may have misunderstood the time frame. As I said, the 3 to 7 business days refers to the time it takes once the laptop is shipped standard ground delivery. It just looks like you may have thought that was the whole time from payment to production to testing to shipping to arrival. All these laptops are custom made to order for you. After your laptop is built it is rigorisly tested and if it's perfect it is then shipped to you. As I posted earlier it takes a little time, but so worth the wait. After all you want a great lappy that is flawless and works right out of the box, not a fancy expensive paperweight.
If you have urgent concerns and what not just give the good folks at Xotic a call - toll free. They will help you out and answer your questions every time and you won't be on hold forever either. You might want to have a look at the info in the tab titled "XoticPC info" if you have not already done so.
Don't worry, you don't have to get a lappy right now. You can wait weeks, months, a year or two(I did for a total of two years just to save up the extra money needed).
Just get one when your ready whether from here or not. No obligations. ...No hard feelings.

I knew it would take 3-7 for it to ship.
I paid the extra for NEXT DAY AIR.
On what would be the 7th day I find out my order was going to be delayed another 2 or 3 weeks.
It was just disappointing and aggravating to the point where I'm asking myself what's next?
That laptop was going to cost me nearly 6.5K

With Alienware It was supposed to be 2 weeks....that is until the lighted keyboard issue knocked it back to 1 month....
You see where I'm coming from?

I'm not pissed, just really disappointed.
Since I'm having to wait THIS long I might as well wait for the 9800m GTX in SLI whenever that happens...
When the time comes, maybe XoticPC won't be so hammered by their vendor's crap and I'll be able to purchase from them then...with a reasonable delivery time frame.
I have no hard feelings toward XoticPC.

Oh, I understand now. Sorry, I didn't know you went with Next Day Air. That makes it a whole other thing. I can see how your frustrated after dealing with all the stuff from all the other places you tried.
Nothing wrong with waiting for the next innovation and for the manufactures and vendors to make up their minds. Things seem to change every 10 minutes in the computer world. (That nifty computer thing you bought yesterday is an antique now ya know?) :)

Atleast your not in a finger pointing mood ;). It is pretty typical that ordering during the release of new models and technology is not going to go as smoothly as you anticipate. I remember the frustration for some people who ordered a 7950M GTX just a few weeks before the 8800M GTX was released and required a mobo swap. SLI for the 8800M GTX took even longer to become usable. One thing I noticed was that other brand names such as alienware/dell took atleast 2-4 months to match Sager in technology, not to mention the outrageous price differences :p. I also wouldn't be too flustered as you pull out and want your money back immediately. Xotic isn't exactly the largest company and I have noticed it takes some time to process orders and such, which is a fair trade for the great pricing in my opinion. Well all I can say is good luck with your laptop seeking adventure and I hope it works out for you in the end (Try looking a Hypersonic maybe? Poor tech support I hear though). Oh and by the way I just read that the SSDs were pulled out because they were very problematic and bugged, so that wasn't too bad of a decision by Xotic. Peace :).

Whoa, so much for leaving (2 posts later)

Quality + pricing = takes time

Solution! Be patient.

You do know that the SSD's were pulled because they were having problems, right?
I'm sure that you don't want your 6.5k laptop to get to you just have the SSD's crap out on you a few weeks later. I know that would annoy me more than having to wait for the laptop.

Yes I do.
What bothers me is that they offered it without testing it.
I can understand wanting to be on the cutting edge, but you have to be responsible to your customers.
By offering it to begin with, I trusted that this NEW technology had been integrated and tested.
Why add it if you aren't sure it is viable.

Then there is the issue where I was told about delays on the 9800 which were FALSE...and after learning about the new price drop on Intel Processors, it makes me wonder if I wasn't held over so that they could make extra margin on the sale. ( I am in sales and it sounds suspicious).
When I first called I was told they could ship in 3-7, if there was a delay as they said...they new from the beginning that shipping in 3-7 days was an impossibility.

I am sure for the most part XoticPC is a great company to work with...I just feel that my personal experience was mis-handled. I wish everyone here a great experience.

Tell me the truth, I'll be loyal...

i was told 2 days ago that my refund would be processed in 2-5 business days, My order still shows pending, not canceled. So I assume in 5 business days my order will be canceled and 2-5 business days after that the refund will go through....that's fine.
I'm waiting on the 9800mGTX and new Q9650 now. I have time.

If I'm told 3-7 days, I expect 3-7 days regardless of your ridiculous equation (Quality + pricing = takes time).

As far as leaving I am leaving XoticPC, but I'll be lurking until my refund is received.

well let me tell you my first experience with this company, I ordered a np2092 July 9th and kept it a couple of weeks and thought this thing doesn't have enough graphics power so I returned it. It diet take long to return it to xotic and get a refund on my credit card about three days for the funds to show in my account after they checked out my machine, the I ordered the 5796 and it came within 5 days of order, for an online store that's pretty phenomenal service for a custom build job. Hope everything goes well for you as well crow, xotic thanks for the excellent service your rep is outstanding!!!

I always thought waiting made it that more exciting when you did receive the product you wanted. I mean after all when the Enzo, Ferrari was announced for release you had to pay 6k-20k just for the ticket/right to buy the car. Then after you purchased and created your new 1 million baby, you had to wait one year just to receive the car if you were towards the end of the list. But you know what? Every single Enzo that was up for production was sold.

This scenario kind of reminds me of this company a little. They spend the time and effort to meticulously custom make a laptop, not a desktop, a laptop for you. And every once in a while forces outside of their command create the conditions that we face now with waiting. And even if they were waiting for the price cut, who cares… it is a business not a charity (although at these prices, you might mistake them to be one). So let them make a small profit margin, I really don’t think I would like to seem them go out of business. Not as long as my three year warranty is still in the contract.
