Of course it depends on what you will be doing, but I'd have to go with the NP2096 config you did. 360GB HD 5400rpm uses no more power than the 160GB 5400rpm really, but plenty of room. Also the 2096 has a 9-cell batt which offers 2-3 hours (depending on what your doing of course). I've heard of some folks even squeezing 3.5 hours per charge.
Sure the 2096 has only a 3-in-1 card reader, but if you happen to have cards it doesn't read, you can go out and get a 21-in-1 reader, plug it in to one of your free USB ports, problem goes away. :)
At any rate, you can't beat the warranties.
You have a nice 2096 config coming your way eventually and I think you'll be happy with it. (It's less expensive, but nice and powerful which means money left over for accessories, software and other goodies).

Yea, I am definitely looking forward to it. Not a day goes by where I'm not checking email praying for phase 3! I was just curious why the 8660 would come with an 'older' cpu if it was a more expensive model. I assume that the gpu has alot to do with it, but I was just wondering, head to head, what the more popular build was.

Well, older CPU...not that old actually. The only difference between the Penryn and the Montiva or whatever its called (I keep calling it the Ricardo Montiban chip), is the wattage basically. 35w on the "old" vs 25w on the "new". Other than that its just marketing. The lower wattage does help your battery life and reduces heat, but by how much, I don't know.

You can keep checking your email if you want, but don't get too hung up on that. Phase# 2 is 7 to 10 business days. Phase #3 is about 1 to 2 business days for testing and QC and more days (# depending on format), if your having any artwork done.
Be as patient as you can and you will be rewarded with a lappy that will be so lovely you might faint when you see it. Well, ok maybe not faint, but you will be amazed. :)

I know, its hard. I guess I have trained myself to a little self control which in no way is to be construde that I won't lose it when my lappy arrives!:-/
