  • Sager np 6110

Just learned about this new 11.6 " beast coming out soon, Ivy Bridge compatible with nVIDIA® GeForce GT 650M GDDR3 (2.0GB) w/ Optimus.
Too bad there is no backlit keyboard option but my biggest concern is the heat this laptop produces and how it would handle it in such a small form factor.
Now I know its not and ideal main gaming rig but for those on the road that dont want to sacrifice power for portability a very intriguing choice.
We need some pics of this thing and a release date.

There is only so many options you can stick into a 11.6 inch laptop. :/

        Meaning exactly what?
A backlit keyboard would not add any significant size to it's already thick body.
Besides not having a disc drive and being small it has pretty good hardware with full powered IVB support. I'm a little confused with what your point is.

I understand your frustration. I guess my only comments would be; if backlit keyboard is a deal breaker, stick with the lower powered m11x. Also; xoticpc doesn't really control the features that sager or clevo decide, threy are bound to the barebones system and offer component upgrades and support. I guess I'm just trying to say don't shoot the messenger

As a side note: while I can not say for certain until I'm holding my new system, clevo generally does really good with there cooling design and if you look at the copper and fan in the np6110 you can tell that they had put some serious thought into cooling both the gt650m and the full strength mobile processor.

Never said it was a deal breaker but I'm sure it would better with a backlit keyboard as we could all agree

Cooling system looks pretty beefy :

Looks like it can get the job done, hopefully it won't be too loud and be relatively quiet under full load.

I'm so excited for this laptop. I'm really just hoping that if/when they put the IVB on it, it won't drive up the price, and if it does, I hope that SB will be cheaper, so I'll just get that. SB is more than enough, especially if it's paired with the 650m anyways.... IVB is great for graphics, but the 650 is a great card, so I dunno.

Well we will find out soon enough... Intel is releasing the quad cores on monday so we should see final prices sometime around then. as for SB dual cores, we will see them in this system until at least june when IB duals are scheduled for release. We will have the option of an IB quad or SB dual for about a months time.
