  • NP5792 Poor Speaker Volume Solution

Well, I finally got around to taking XPCdude's advice about downloading FFDShow and I am glad I did. The audio codec allows you to boost the volume to where it can actually be heard from a considerable distance. I have mine at 300% volume at the moment, although I believe 500% is the max; and the sounds are just as crisp. FFDShow is the way to go if your having trouble with the built in speakers and don't want to carry around external ones.

Very cool! I just chalked up bad speakers as a notebook regular. I'm wondering though, how much the speakers can handle without blowing them out. I don't think they were ment to go much louder than the standard settings.

The speakers can handle a lot of volume, but it`s not like you`re going to use the onboard speakers for parties, there just not cutt-off for that. But for watching movies especially , ffdshow helps a lot.And I mean A LOT.

Downloaded it and installed it. Ran the "Audio decoder configuration" and maxxed the Master Volume slider to max but that didn't affect anything.

Any hints as to what I'm doing wrong?

Yeah, did that. The volume level on everything seems fine except when watching DVDs. Have to struggle just to hear the DVD.

I'm still trying to get it to run for dvds as well... though I havent had much time to mess around with it yet. I wish there was a way to have it running all the time with any program. :?

Does this work for the NP5796 aswell? And if so can I get a link, the link doesnt work and the audio on my new laptop has got me to the point of almost sending it back to Sagar for a refund or something, this is absolutely the worst sounding and quietest audio I have ever heard.

                    Absolutely Rediculous.

This should work for all models. FYI this only boosts sound for DVD videos and certain applications, but is a must have download.

Finally got around to installing these.

I don't think it is working. I played a movie... sound was low, raised it to 300% and hit apply, volume didn't change.

                            What am I doing wrong?

                            Is there a tutorial somewhere?
