  • Very Excited! Just ordered a Sager NP9262

I made my order on Sunday April 20. I accidently selected the wrong shipping, I choose for parts only, instead of a whole system. So the price was a few dollars more than expected, but only because of my mistake.

My bank wired the money on Wednesday April 23, and payment was recieved Thursday April 24. My system is now in Phase 2. And the excitement is starting to build up.

I am very pleased with XoticPC's service. They always respond quickly, and with all the information I need. I cant wait to get my system.

PS: My dad was talking with a IT person from work, and told him about system. The IT couldnt believe it, he was so jealous of it.

Just wondering what the SLI of the two 8800's is like?
I've seen lots of reviews out there about how fast they are until they boot up a game that is not programed to take advantage of it. :?

      Any comments on this?

Thank you all very much, It shipped on Friday the 25th. So it should be here sometime this week Im going to document everything when I get it, and write a full review on it. Hopefully that will answer some questions about the SLI. (I do plan on gaming, but not a ton, mainly Diablo II, Neverwinter Nights, UT2004, a little Crysis) but mainly it will be used for multitasking while i work with UnrealEd, MSVS2008, Adobe CS3, and Maya 2008. Im really excited to see how much better this is than my current rig, which is ~5 years old, with a P4-HT! lol

Thanks bargegod, i have to say, my experience with Xotic has made it seem like a family.

The SLi works exceptionally well in mine...i have a couple glitchy issues w/ games that just aren't coded to use it but nothing that freezes the system or crashes the game...

My Lappy should be here today Im at work, but my parents are home to sign for it. Ive been looking into which notebook cooler to buy, the two i've narrowed it down to are:

              ZALMAN NC2000
              http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834998685

              NZXT CRYO LX
              http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834997340

The NZXT might not be large enough though, its 16.6" x 11.6", while the Notebook is 15.5" x 11.75". I dont know if that .15" is enough to make a difference. But It seems as though the NZXT pushes more air than the ZALMAN.

Any experiences with these two, or suggestions of others?

I personally use the NC2000 with my 5793 and I wouldn't change. It pushes allot of cool air into the machine and keeps the machine running very cool. I can't recall who at this time but there was a user on NBR that did some tests with the NC2000 and it shaved approximately 10 degrees off of the running temps.

                  Zalman NC2000

Went out and found the review. Seems to work and work well. It will be the one for me as it is quiet and lowers temps a lot.

                  Here is the review.

Is there a difference between the Silver and Black versions of the NC2000? It seems as though the Silver version gets way better reviews than the Black version.

Does anyone know how far back the holes go? Will they be far enough back to push air into the fans on the Sager NP9262, whose 4 fans are all near the middle of the back.

It may be far enough back

I was wondering the same thing, then I started a side by side of the Zalman 2K and the bottom of a 9262. The area of air pushing out of the 2000 Zalman seems to be far enough back to get the CPU / GPU fans. It is far enough back to get the memory area. Remember the GPU / CPU are both actively cooled but the rest of the 9262 is passively cooled. It may be as important to try and keep air moving to the passive heat exchange areas of the 9262. The hard drives, battery and DVD drive are all in the front 1/2 of this beast. Probably the motherboard and chip-set is somewhere around or even under the removable components. There are a lot of air vents in the front for cooling for these components. So it seems to make sense to try and keep the front of the 9262 cool also. I think that hard drives for a laptop have a maximum running temperature of around 60 degrees centigrade.

You can figure it out, if the hard drives get to hot then you won't be running the CPU and GPU for very long after that.

Going to have to add to this post a bit, I myself have just ordered a Sager 9262 with the following specs:

                          Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9450 2.6GHz w/ 12MB L2 Cache - 1333MHz FSB
17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1920x1200)
                          512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8800GTX DX10
                          4,096MB DDR2 800 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel Memory
                          200GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)

I'm very excited to receive my system, Currently in phase 2, took less than 1 hour to confirm the payment. Hopefully I'll receive it within 1 week. Good thing I waited a little bit, as the Q9450 was not available at the time. I'd also like to thank the people who replied to my other post regarding quad vs dual. This forum is so helpful.
