  • NP9262 and CPU's

I am just wondering what cpu's i can actually upgrade to in my machine. i have been looking at the q9550 but availibilty of this chip is pretty bad currently i have also come across its xeon counterpart the Intel Xeon X3360. Can my NP9262 be upgraded to either on of those chips Currently have on the bottom of my laptop the label says i have a d901c but when i run system scan says i actually have a d900c kinda confused on that part as well. TIA.....

These are the processors that the current 9262 supports:

    ~Intel Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6300/E6400 1.86/2.13GHz, FSB1066, 2MB L2 cache
    ~Intel Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6600/E6700 2.4/2.67GHz, FSB1066, 4MB L2 cache
    ~Intel Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6550/E6850 2.33/3.0GHz, FSB1066/FSB1333, 4MB L2 cache
    ~Intel Core™ 2 Extreme Processor X6800 2.93GHz, FSB1066, 4MB L2 cache
    ~Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz w/ 6MB L2 Cache - 1333MHz FSB
    ~Intel Core 2 QUAD Q6600 2.4GHz w/ 8MB L2 Cache - 1066MHz FSB
    ~Intel Core 2 QUAD Q6700 2.66GHz w/ 8MB L2 Cache - 1066MHz FSB
    ~Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9450 2.6GHz w/ 12MB L2 Cache - 1333MHz FSB

Any processors above the Q6700 or Q9450 are not currently supported. The Q9550 will be added to this list in time but is currently still in testing.

The Xeons are not currently supported.
Justin_W provided the full page of available CPUs for the 9262.
The most recommended one being the Q9450 at the moment.

        E8500 isn't supported?

If i wanna upgrade to a better cpu in the future like the E8600 would i be able to do that? maybe with a bios update?

The E8500 is currently not on the supported CPU list. Any CPU's that are not supported at this time are not guaranteed to work.

Unfortunately we don't do trade-ins. The processor would be at full price. If you would like a price quote on the Q9450 please e-mail [email protected].

Thx for the quick reply. I have a few question about what i can or cant do with this machine. Currently i work in Iraq i purchased the machine and had it shipped to my home in the states to avoid having it shipped overseas for alot of reasons my primary one receiving it. As far swapping out a new cpu can i just order on from tigerdirect since they ship to apo's and swap it out myself or does that void my warranty? What in my laptop can i change out as far as component wise? I have somewhat scoured many different forums and come to the conclusion that over clocking this machine is not supported an anyway shape or form. That is not an issue for me but i am curious as to why? As far as bios updates and changes will that be posted on a site somewhere or is that something as a customer i need to ask about? Just a few question for my own curiosity but i do love this laptop i have had no issues other then trying to find good video drivers for it, not much on synthetic benchmarks but scored a 13155 on the 3Mark06. Performance has been incredible being that i do everything on this laptop since it serves as my primary form of entertainment i have been quite impressed.

Nope my scores there were stock using the 174.82 drivers have only toyed around with over clocking a little nothing to serious. Not had much experience with over clocking on laptops so i am going to kinda take it easy. From the little bit of tinkering i have done the best score i have come up with it this http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...dege/Score.jpg just wish we had a more accessible bios, but then again maybe that would get more of us into trouble. Looking at the Dell forums they have some just down right incredible scores so i think in time to compete maybe sager will unlock our bios a little. Well i hope anyways with a desktop cpu that is screaming to be turned loose it should be only a matter of time. Oh yeah i am using the 174.90 drivers off of http://www.laptopvideo2go.com site. Thinking getting a q9550 but i think i will wait until the q3 and get a q9650.
