  • Why are CPU upgrades on Asus so much more expensive than other brands?

The premium to upgrade 2nd gen Core i7 CPU's for Asus (and MSI) laptops appears to be more than double that for other makes. Why? Asus appears to be such a great value in other ways.

    Asus N73SV-A1:
    2720QM: $389
    2820QM: 569
    2920XM: 1089

    Sager NP8170:
    2720QM: $149
    2820QM: 297
    2920XM: 445

because you have to nearly take the entire machine apart to get to the CPU to upgrade it. This question has been asked before, search functions are there for a reason.

Asus and MSI are not set up to make many modifications the way Sager is. Asus does offer great value if you go with the pre config. Adjust from that and price goes nuts.

Say what you want. It is what it is. Asus is much more of production line and likely much greater volume.
