  • 8800M GTX drivers !!!

    Hi everybody,
After having my Sager Np5792 for 6 months, I am pleased to say that the quality/price is amasing, the computer works like a charm, and the 8800M GTX is very powerfull, but Age Of Conan is a game that asks for a lot of video power, and my card is up to it, but for that she mught need new drivers, and not the ones that I have from the Cd that I got at the begining...
Drivers make the card work better, and I need those drivers...

I was wondering of a day or another we might get drivers that do not reduce the card's capacity by half or more... Execpt the first ones

Thanks again and enjoy your comp !
    Sager NP 5792
    8800M GTX ( 174.90 )
    1.00.08 BIOS
    .14 VBIOS
    NO DC !
    Nice !

The person that tries every driver that comes out is Oregon Coast Gamer. Sad to say so far O.C.G. reports that the drivers that come with the unit are the best (fastest.) Who knows? Someday we might have a valid reason to install the newer ones.

Just installed 175.75. My original Vantage 3dmark was 6200, installed 174.90 and went down to 6000.
Now with 175.75, I have set records:

ANYOTHER drivers than the stock ones (167.43) WILL reduce my comp's performance's by half.

I have read many topics and forum like Notebookreview, and what I can say is that with the 5792 you have more chances of having the DC problem, a lot less with the 5793 maybe due to the 0.8s version of the BIOs but still with upgrading to those, the DC problem is still there...

Right now the only thing to do just like the support service said to me is to use the stock ones.

And I think that if we could use the newer ones, we would gain a lot of perfomance in games...

Our 8800M GTX is not at full speed, And there must be a way of stoping the DC problem but what is it...the answer might come from Nvidia or from Sager or Clevo, who knows :'(

From reading nVidia's site, they leave it up to Sager to tweak for individual models. One forum said and had many agreements, that the 8800m only works to capacity with an nVidia chipset.
It seems a few more months wait would have been worth the risk that maybe they will get the 9xxx series right since a good 8800 driver is looking grim.

Anybody ever tried drivers from here: http://laptopvideo2go.com/

It is unfortunate that Nvidia is doing such a bad job supporting their products as a whole at this time. They need to concentrate on getting some new drivers out for both their mainstream cards and their mobile stuff. I dont see it happening honestly. ATI is breathing down their necks and if they dont keep working ATI is guaranteed to pass them up for the performance title when the 4870X2 is released.

I would imagine the next Nvidia mobile chip we see on the high end will be the 9800 GTX+. I do not see a 2XX chip being released in a near future for laptops. They need to do a die shrink to lower costs, heat, and power requirements. Even then, the 4XXX ATI chips will be cheaper and faster. I also think ATI has the capability to put out a better mobile solution than Nvidia as they can do processor, video and chipset all in house. This in turn will lower the costs of laptops as a whole. I see no reason whatsoever that a 8800MGTX is going for over $500. Your looking at 18 month old tech with that card.

That's where we are getting all these drivers , but once again... 175.75 may be a great driver for you folks with NP9262s and SLI, but I have yet to see some real performance boosts for the single GPU card models .

Yep, I will be trying the 177xx but still I'm quite sure the effect of DC will be the same unfortunately....

I will give word about those as soon as possible.

Right now, I have the 177.35.

Result is that on the windows performance indicator I wenty from 4.9 to 1.0
ON graphic performance, from 5.1 to 1.0

The only thing I have to say is WTF ?!

Still no driver exept the stock ones that work on that comp ...

Sorry Oregon, I guess we shall wait for a Looooong Time xD
