I have an ASUS m50sv-a1 laptop I have had for say, 3 weeks. What things I have have done with it for sound so far have worked i.e. DVD's, tv tuner, music. I bought a Microsoft flight simulator x and cant hear a peep out of anything. Other games I have played have worked fine. What do I need to do to get sound in the flight sim? And yes I have made sure the sound card is not muted and such as when I do the testing while in the sim I hear the speakers test tones, but as soon as I switch back to the sim not a peep. I'm using the onboard sound card.

If the sound works with everything else except that specific game, that means there is a problem with the game. Try downloading the latest game patches and testing it out again. If all else fails contact the technical support number for Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

I just stuck a cd in my laptop and could not get any sound whatsoever out of it. It eventually switched and said it couldnt locate any digital device and said it converted to an analog device, lol then the dvd's wouldnt play. I fiddled and looked and stuff and finally just rebooted. Dvd's will play again but I have no sound from cd's or from my microsoft flight sim yet. I wonder if it has something to do with analog sound. I never loaded any software that came with the laptop like th nero stuff or anything else. Does the cd player need nero or an equivalent software to play cd's?

Windows Media player should play cds.... I would try reinstalling the audio drivers or calling tech support. It may be that the player your using could be malfunctioning too.Sager NP5792
